Firstly, from a technical SEO perspective, many broken links can signal to search engines that your site is not well-maintained, potentially leading to lower rankings. To rank higher on Google, it’s crucial to optimize your website’s on-page SEO. This means making changes and improvements directly on your web pages to help search engines understand the content better. Here are some effective techniques to enhance your on-page SEO.
And if users aren’t happy, you can kiss your rankings bye-bye. Our analysis of Google’s key ranking factors found that the average Google first page result contains 1,447 words. Ever seen a snippet saying “Their website mentions service” in local results?
I am writing this post for someone just starting out that is trying to wrap their head around how Google works. This is the post I wish I had 10 years ago when I first got started. I emailed a cousin and the spouse of a different cousin because I knew they were “tech geeks”. I figured that since they knew about computers, they should also understand how Google works.
Such an update, for example, was the recent “Reviews Rich Snippets Schema Update”. In short, it targeted businesses that were using biased and sometimes even untruthful reviews and review stars in Google to attract more customers. These search result pages answer specific search queries which are made up of keywords and phrases. Google’s AI is also able to understand the meaning behind each query – and therefore processes them in concepts rather than just individual words. This algorithm works similarly to the way we humans understand and process language – and is therefore called Natural Language SEO Anomaly Processing (NLP). Other great tools for monitoring keyword rankings are Ahrefs and RevenueCloudFX.
On-page SEO is largely about using keywords (search terms you want to rank for) strategically. For example, Google sometimes displays an AI Overview at the top of search results. Focusing on keywords with a 0% to 29% (very easy to easy) PKD % can be an effective way to rank higher on Google Search. If you enter your domain into the tool, you’ll also get your Personal Keyword Difficulty (PKD %) score.
